Adding Video

You can easily add video to your website through Umbraco.

There are two steps:

Step 1: Get your video onto a video site (e.g. YouTube) 
Step 2: Link your website to that video.

Step 1: Get your video online

The easiest way to do this is to upload it to YouTube.  The process changes from time to time, but your first step will be to create an account on YouTube for your company.  Go to www.youtube.com, signup, and then look for the button Upload My Video.

Step 2: Linking your website to the video.

ALthough you can put your video anywhere in your site, sometimes it's easier to ask support to do it.  Email us at support and we can give you a quote to prepare it.

But if you're happy to get your hands a little dirty with code, then you can follow these steps.

  1. Go to your video on YouTube.
  2. Click the Share button
  3. Look for the option to Embed the video.
  4. Copy the embed code.
  5. Open your website page in umbraco.
  6. Click the HTML button in the toolbar.
  7. Paste the embed code into the HTML code.
  8. Save and publish.

 

What if I don't want my videos to be visible on YouTube.

There are other sites that can hold your video securely, but there is usually a monthly cost associated with hosting them.
